The group chat problem
Someone asks the group where everyone wants to eat. Fourteen replies arrive over the next two minutes, and your phone buzzes fourteen times. You look at it fourteen times. The fourteenth buzz told you nothing the first one did not.
The usual fixes are blunt. Mute the thread and you find out about dinner an hour late. Turn on Do Not Disturb and you miss everything else too. Neither one knows the difference between a conversation starting and a conversation continuing.
AttenShun is not a mute button.
It does not hide your messages or hold them back. It just stops your phone from interrupting you again for something it already told you about.
How it works

Pick a quiet stretch
Choose how long a conversation should stay quiet after its first message. Thirty seconds is a good place to start, and you can set a different length for any app.
The first message buzzes
A new conversation reaches you the way it always did. AttenShun does not touch it.
The rest wait together
Follow-up messages gather into a single summary that updates silently. When your quiet stretch ends, the next message starts fresh and buzzes again.
The controls around it
The burst window is the heart of it. Everything else is there so you stay in charge.
Per-App Control
AttenShun manages only the apps you switch on. Everything else behaves as if it were not installed.
Dismiss Rules
Clear notifications you never want to see, matched on the app, the sender, or words in the text. Build one straight from a notification you already got.
Searchable History
The last 24 hours of notifications, including the ones AttenShun quieted. Search the text or filter to the apps you care about.
Actions Pass Through
Tap the summary to open the conversation in the original app, or hit Mark as Read from the notification itself.
Re-Alert Reminder
Set a delay and AttenShun tells you what is still unread, so a quiet burst never becomes a forgotten conversation.
Backup and Restore
Export your rules and settings to a file you keep. Importing merges with what is already there instead of wiping it.
AttenShun works with any app that posts message notifications, and is tuned in particular for WhatsApp, Google Messages, and Google Voice, which each handle them differently. It asks for Android's notification access the first time you open it, which is what lets it see and dismiss notifications on your behalf.
Your notifications are nobody else's business
To do its job, AttenShun has to see your notifications. That is exactly why it does all of its work on your phone and sends nothing anywhere. Your notification history, your rules, and your settings are stored on the device and nowhere else.
