Your Data

Your data belongs to you. RainCheq stores everything locally on your device in an SQLite database. We can't access it. We don't copy it to our servers. We can't sell it or share it with anyone.

RainCheq works without you having to create an account. You don't need to give us your email or sync your data to a cloud. Your financial data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it.

RainCheq+ features (automatic transaction sync, AI categorization, online access, etc.) use our backend only for those specific functions; we still don't store or mine your transaction data.

Our Approach

We built RainCheq to be local-first because we believe you should be able to see your financial future without handing your data over to a third party. When your data lives on a server, it is subject to breaches, to terms of service that can change at any time, and to a company that might shut down or be acquired. RainCheq's forecasting engine runs on your device; we don't need your transactions on our servers to project your balances.

We focus on forecasting, not budgeting. We don't track whether you're "on budget." We help you answer: What will my account balances look like in the future? Envelopes, recurring activity, and balance alerts help answer that question; all without entrusting your data to someone else.

RainCheq+ features (automatic transaction sync, AI categorization, online access, etc.) are optional and subscription-based because they incur backend costs. You can use the RainCheq app forever without RainCheq+.

What We Won't Do

  • We won't sell your data or share it with advertisers, data brokers, the government, or anyone else.
  • We won't show you ads or use your data to target you.
  • We won't require an account or cloud sync to use core RainCheq features.
  • We won't store your financial data on our servers; it stays on your device.
  • We won't change the rules on you: features you get with a one-time purchase stay yours. We may add or adjust RainCheq+ features over time, but we won't take away what you've already paid for.
